Drillworks are created by repeatedly piercing thin sheet material, usually 3 to 6mm thick.

Nearly all early works were drilled in MDF board which is a good material to use for smaller works which are not subject to extremes of heat or damp.

 These days I tend towards using  panels of aluminium composite material (ACM)  due to its strength, rigidity and light weight as well as resistance to heat and moisture.
