Several years ago I made this piece of work, it hangs on my wall.

The calligraphy is from a version of the Tao Te Ching which I have, it is the first chapter which roughly translated into English reads:

The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named is not the eternal name
The nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth
The named is the mother of myriad things
Thus, constantly without desire, one observes its essence
Constantly with desire, one observes its manifestations
These two emerge together but differ in name
The unity is said to be the mystery
Mystery of mysteries, the door to all wonders

As well as the beauty of the meaning I was captivated by the beauty of the calligraphy and so decided to attempt a work capturing this to a degree. I like to look at it in the evening sometimes and ponder all the big stuff.

It was my intention to make a separate piece for each chapter…Ha..!
